| Typically, when a restaurant changes ownership, you can expect a radical shift in management and quality. Well, Kaneyama is the exception to the rule...and we are delighted about it. The quality and cut of the nigiri is fantastic. The private 'tatami-style' private rooms are large, connectable and comfortable. Several long-term Sushi Club of Houston members visit Kaneyama often to ensure that they get their fill of Salmon nigiri for the week. Kaneyama is definitely a Top Ten. |

Kaneyama is a great restaurant with a spacious dining
area...but when it's lunch and dinner time, it can fill up quickly.
It's one of the top sushi restaurants on Westheimer Road, so don't make
the mistake of thinking that you'll be the only one in the restaurant.
In fact, the Sushi Club of Houston typically hosts our large events at
Kaneyama on Wednesdays to ensure that we don't dominate the restaurant
when it's already busy. If you've never eaten a sushi meal at Kaneyama before, we recommend ordering the Salmon Nigiri and the Julie Crunch Roll for starters. If you're in the mood for a large plate of nigiri, sit at the sushi bar and strike up a conversation with the sushi chefs. They will not steer you wrong. |

Kaneyama's menu is full of a variety of
items - from the traditional to the fusion. We recommend you
consider ordering one appetizer (in most cases) for two people.
Kaneyama wants to you return with your friends and co-workers so they
emphasize sharing the dining experience. An appetizer, shared
amongst two people, is a great start. Contact Kaneyama's management to reserve one (or all) of their private rooms. Don't assume that they will be available at the last minute. When our club hosts events, we contact Kaneyama's management about 30 days in advance (or more). The rooms are great for small, medium and large parties. Best of all, they are located adjacent to the sushi bar itself. If you're visiting Kaneyama for lunch, we recommend ordering the following: (1) a bowl of edamame as an appetizer, (2) one of the sushi roll combinations and (3) a Green Tea ice cream dessert. Your bill will be about $20 and you'll definitely walk to your car feeling truly satisfied. |
